Snow Day Calculator

Free snow day widget

Show your district's snow day chance on your own website.

For school and PTA websites, parent newsletters, local news and community pages. The widget shows tomorrow's chance of a closure and of a delay for one school district, from the National Weather Service forecast, and updates on its own every hour overnight. Free, no sign-up, no ads, no cookies.

1. Choose your district

2. Copy the code

Paste it into your page's HTML (in most website builders: add an "Embed" or "Custom HTML" block).

What families see

  • Your district's name and whether the chance is for today or tomorrow.
  • The chance of a closure and of a delay, color-coded from unlikely to very likely.
  • Any winter storm, ice storm, blizzard or extreme cold warning for the area.
  • When the forecast was updated, and a link to the full forecast with the hour-by-hour snow.
  • A clear note that it is an estimate: the district makes and announces the decision.

The chance comes from the same model as our snow day calculator: the National Weather Service forecast for the district's area, compared with its normal winter. How it works.

Snow day widget questions

Is the snow day widget free?

Yes, for any school, PTA, parent group, local news or community site. No sign-up, no ads inside the widget, and no cookies.

Does the widget update by itself?

Yes. It shows the latest forecast every time the page loads: hourly overnight from mid-October to mid-April. Outside snow season it says so.

Will the widget slow down my website?

No. It loads lazily in its own frame, is about the size of a small image, and doesn't run anything on your page.

Can I show it for a different district or change the size?

Pick any ZIP code, town or district above and copy the new code. You can change the width and height numbers in the code to fit your page.
